The regulations concerning pet travel depend on the route.
Hoek van Holland - Harwich:
You can bring your pet provided it stays inside your vehicle during the crossing or inside a kennel on the car deck. Your pet is not allowed to enter the passenger deck.
The costs of pet travel are €15 per single crossing.
Pets have to meet the following conditions:
- Pets must have a valid pet passport.
- Pets must be micro-chipped, a permanent registration of the animal.
- Pets must have undergone a blood test, at least 6 months prior to departure.
- Your pet must be treated for worms and ticks. This treatment should be administered between 24 and 48 hours prior to check-in.
Irish Sea:
No particular conditions apply to pet travel. There are no additional costs involved.
Your pet must remain inside the vehicle during the crossing or in a kennel (present on the car deck).
Frederikshavn - Oslo:
Pet travel is possible provided the following terms and conditions are met:
- passengers travelling with pets have to book a special cabin (4-berth cabin outside).
- the costs for the night sailing off-season are € 150 / peak season € 172 per cabin per single trip.
On the day sailing during off-season € 75 / peak season € 75 per cabin per single trip.
(off-season = 01-01/19-06 + 25-08/31-12 /
peak season = 20-06/24-08).
- the pet has to stay inside the cabin during the crossing.
- there is a special area where you can walk your dog on the outside deck .
- Pet travel is bound to the conditions of the EU pet passport. We request you read these conditions thoroughly before making the booking.
Kiel - Göteborg:
Pet travel is possible provided the following terms and conditions are met:
- You are required to book a special cabin for your trip (4-berth cabin outside, animals allowed). Pets must remain inside your cabin during the crossing, a special area where you can walk your dog is situated on the same deck. Pets are NOT allowed in the public areas.
- There is restricted availability on the sailings.
- We advise you to consult your veterinarian for the Swedish regulations / customs requirements.
Frederikshavn - Göteborg:
- On the Stena Nautica/Danica and Jutlandica there are assigned dog areas (inside). You can choose to leave your dog inside your vehicle or take it with you on deck.
- Stena Express: Pet travel is only allowed when the pet remains inside the car, no pet travel during the months June till August.
- Stena Danica:. The pet must remain inside the car or at a designated area on deck 9. During the months June till August pets cannot stay in the car
- Stena Jutlandica: Inside car or at an assigned area on deck 7.
- Stena Nautica: Inside car or at an assigned area on deck 7.
- In case the Stena Germanica/Scandinavica are put in service in the peak season on the route Frederiskhavn - Göteborg pet travel is not allowed.
- If your pet stays in the car there are no costs. Otherwise the costs will be € 5,00 per pet, per single crossing, yet no additional costs apply on the Express.
- Pets have to be reported 45 minutes prior to departure.
- When a pet is kept inside the car this must be reported at check in.
- There is restricted availability on the sailings.
- The car cannot be accessed during the crossing.
- The owner of the pet is solely responsible for the pet and the required documents.
