Delays and noise on exit
The boarding at the Dutch end is extremely smooth, though a very long walk up the gangway. The cabins are comfortable.
The breakfast is very expensive for what it is and the alternative cheaper breakfast bar was not open when I came down at just before 6 am. The exit procedure for foot passengers on the UK side is poorly organised and uncomfortable during this extended period when the passenger gangway is out of action. We queued for ages on the stairs (the lifts were roped off) people were having to manhandle large cases in the stairs which isn't safe. The holding area on the car deck had painfully loud noise from the lorries and cars moving on the deck above. There appeared to be no one present managing the exit procedure or to ask what was going on. The delay was far more extensive than necessary (or they should hold more passengers in the comfort of the ship. There is no signage to confirm that you are on the right train when you get to the train. On previous occasions the embarkation at the UK side has been unnecessarily delayed and slow. It was a bit smelly in the cabin bathroom this time #11213. As previous reviewer noted the max volume on the TV is still quite low, and currently the WiFi is out in the cabins and temporarily only available in the Guest lounge area. The lady from the Immigration Service was the pleasantest official of that service that I have ever dealt with, really human.
I would like the British side port manager to get a much better handle on the whole process of embarkation and disembarkation and to be adequately resourced for this, like his Dutch side counterpart.
Stena' Harwich to The Hoek van Holland Service continues.....
Two very nice crossings, two weeks apart - first on Britannica - no complaints save for moth holes in duvet cover and a few regular items missing from the shop; second (return to UK) on Hollandica. Wifi not working on Deck 9 - appears but never geyts to log in! Cabin TV volume stuck low (Noise of kids playing Grand Prix on corridor spoiled RWC!) Ship looking a bit aged now but service fine. The usual frustration of inconsistent car handling was again evident - those customers who take the trouble to arrive early should never surely be left as last to leave the ship on arrival. Some scheme of loading and unloading in the same order ought not to be impossible? Why is the Pedestrian passengers Bus allowed to block exit of cars when the other side of the storage is vacant of lorries? These two give the impression that someone is winding us up?
No problems, took a day cabin with a window and it was lovely to see it sailing away from Holland. My return journey i had an inside cabin to sleep, very peaceful and smooth crossing, no noise outside the cabin either. Shower was nice and hot, heating the cabin took quite awhile. Much better experience than Easy jet
Regular travellers - never disappointed
Always great, good and reliable service with a ship that is always immaculate.
